Closing applications to install MS Office upgrades

I have automatic alerts to upgrades to my MS Office for Mac, but i am not able to install these updates because i evidently have two programs running that i don't know how to close: "Microsoft Database Daemon" and "SyncServiceAgent." How do i close them?
