Is it plugged in? Are you using the Power button located on the back of the iMac in the lower left corner as you are looking at the screen?
yes. The button does not feel as though it does anything - no click
It doesn't so much click as just quietly depress. But if you aren't having any success then immediately return it to place of purchase for a replacement. You have 14 days from purchase to do this after which it becomes Apple's option to replace or repair.
I would try doing a System Management Controller reset before a return, for just about any power related issue.
Best of luck.
Any suggestions for this: Intel iMac (21.5"). No display. When you turn it on, you can hear the fan and hard drive make noise upon start up, but screen stays completely black -- as if it is still off. Reset SMC by unplugging power cord and re-plugging. No change; still nothing at all on the screen. This happen to anyone else? Any solutions that seem to work?
Hi CDM1279,
Did you fix your imac ?
I have the same fault, and would like some advice.
Darren
Took it back to Apple store and they said " It was dead in the box". They exchanged it. That is what you get for refusing to let them set it up for you.
