ftp connection failed using iWeb

i am trying to publish my website using iweb 3.0.4. everytime i test my ftp server i keep getting connection failed. i know for a fact that my username and password, and all related ftp server settings are correct. my webhost is godaddy and have quadrouple checked my username and passwork are correct.

i have another site also hosted by godaddy and published with iweb, and i have repeated exactly in the same way, but continue to get 'testing failed... please verify settings...' window, and therefore cant publish. very frustrated - any thoughts please? thanks much, c

Try the following:

delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.

go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.

launch iWeb and try again.

Hi Old Toad,

I'm having a very similar issue - with iWeb, Filezilla & Cyberduck. I know my settings are correct, but still can't publish. I'm running ML 10.8.2 - can't find the above settings you recommended though.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's because the User Library is hidden in both Lion and Mountain Lion. To view it, click on Go and then press down the alt key on your Mac to reveal the hidden Library folder.

If you have successfully published your site to a local folder then there's little point in deleting iWeb prefs since your problem is with FTP and not iWeb.

Remember that the login for your hosting account isn't the same as for FTP. The username and password are usually different.
