copy a non protected dvd in a playable form to a hdd in iMac

Hi,

I'm getting to know my new computer and am able to acquire some video clips, etc.

I have many dvd's I'd like to store on hdd on iMac for use quickly and if needed to burn to another dvd/jump drive for sharing.

I only see a .dmg file

It would even be nice to put specific tracks from the dvd.

Any help will be welcome.

Thanks,

Bill

In response to the strong arm of the law here:

I have discussed in this thread many apps in which I can manage my legally owned and NON PROTECTED free to air and free streaming video programming. Much of this has been purchased or recorded on dvd format.

As I wish to get away from using the hardware of a disc and moving to a digital format such as mp4 stored on hdd, jump drive, etc., the new iMac I am now using is becoming a comfortable tool do do just that.

I haven't found an app that will copy my legally held dvd programming to hdd in mp4 (or maybe other useable format). Each seems to have some bugs or just won't work.

I also haven't found an app that will capture streaming video dependably.

That is the purpose of my discussion here. (period)

I am not trying to steal any intellectual property!

The good folks here have made suggestions and I've read about them, downloading and trying some.

I've tried WinXDVD Ripper on PC and it seems to work fine. Was just wondering if a mac version may work. That is all! Is that illegal?
