    video calling? is this facetime?

on ichat you initiate the chat with a text, and optionally you can click the green camera icon to start a video session..

on facetime the call is initiated by video calling...

this is on ichat. when i press the green camera by someones name and it starts calling they get it and press accept but it just says connecting and nothing happens. when someone else calls me the green light by the actual camera goes on but nothing shows up. what do you suggest i do?

    Hi,

On Messages beta if you have a Contact (Not Buddy) as the person in the Message window and are iMessaging to them then the Video Icon will  invoke FaceTime

If you are using  Buddy List to contact a Buddy (Not plain iMessage Contact) then you can Video the way iChat used to.

    HI,

So, in the Video Menu the Camera Enabled (It may say VIdeo Enabled in Lion/iChat 6) is ticked ?

Similarly the Show Video Status in the View Menu is also ticked ?

IF you click you own Video icon do you see a Preview ?

Also Check iChat menu > Preferences > Video section.

IF the camera fails to show you a Pic then go to the Apple Menu and hold the ALT key and select System Profilier/Info

Under Hardware > USB does the camera show Up ?
