HI Peter ...

Sometimes deleting an app then reinstalling will reinstall the app with the latest version available.

You need to use a utiity to do this so that all the associated files are removed, not just the app itself. > Download AppCleaner for Mac - Uninstall your apps easily. MacUpdate.com

Then re download the apps. You will not be charged again and make sure to use the same Apple iD used for the oroginal purchases.

How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:

Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In

Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.

Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.

MacKeeper is the problem Peter. It's a so called Mac "cleaner" utility that is causing major problems for Mac users.

And never use an app removal utility unless it's specifically designed to uninstall Mac apps like the one I posted previously.

Your Mac runs maintenance for you. No need to use third party "cleaning" apps.
