May 10, 2012 2:23 PM in response to planb77by STU9000,I just bought me a new iPod classic. Was going to put some of the old click wheel games i bought for my nano years ago, but it seems iTunes does not allow this. There is no category for gaming on the interface page anymore.
If I add them to my iTunes library will it allow me to add them even though apple apparently don't sell them anymore. I still have them on a back-up disc somewhere. Presumably anyone who has previously bought these games should still be able to play them?

May 11, 2012 1:55 AM in response to GamerCookieby STU9000,oh yeah it's like the time when they released the firmware for iPod Touches that allows you to wirelessely connect to your iTunes library, only not for my 2 year old 2nd Gen one. I swithered on whether to buy an iPod Classic and get more storage, or upgrade to a newer iPod Touch and have this ability. Had apple just released this for older generation models I wouldn't have faced this decision, and oh look! I still bought a new iPod anyway!
And now no clicky wheel games. There are games on the iPod itself but you can't add more using iTunes now. Anyway the games were pretty poor, at least for the nano the click wheel never worked properly and was too sensitive I found. So now my iPod Touch has been relegated to pocket photo album and games console, how long before all new apps don't work on my version though.
Way to go Apple for looking after your customers.

May 11, 2012 6:08 AM in response to STU9000by planb77,Either way, the Clickwheel games are probably not going to find there way back into the iTunes Store. Apple seems to be in the process of phasing out older non-iOS devices that don't generate as much revenue as their iOS devices do.

May 11, 2012 6:15 AM in response to planb77by STU9000,Why don't they just release them all as a zip download for free then if they aren't going to sell them anymore? yes they are all a bit pants, but I was looking forward to being able to play silly games on my new iPod Classic.
Just found out that my 2nd gen touch is now an obsolete platform for the latest version of bejeweled, a game I previoualy bought on iTunes and like to play occasionally.
Seriously, if I'd known apple were going to be like this I would never have bothered switching to mac. Incidentally, I decided not to use my latest iPod on my new win7 machnie because I don't want any apple software on there.

Oct 25, 2012 6:20 AM in response to planb77by U no I no,Apple introduced the iPod nano (5th generation) in September of 2009. According to information above, 24 months later in September of 2011 Apple removed all Clickwheel apps from the iTunes store.
Does anyone know why Apple did this? It seems to run contrary to everything that Apple stood for.
Also, might anyone know if one can purchase apps for this iPod anywhere else?

We are not allowed to speculate about such things on these forums according to the terms of use, but I'll throw my 2 cents in anyways. It's likely that the Clickwheel games weren't really generating a lot of revenue for Apple. Not only that, but they wanted to steer people more towards the iOS devices which have thousands and thousands of games available.

I'm not sure you'll be able to find these anywhere else.
