Here is my situation,

I own IBook 2008 and it updated to 10.7.4. and to probably 1075 this iBook 1008 mid seems no problem.

I also own i Mac 24. 2008. it updated to 10.7.4 not problem , but go very very slow to connect Internet and

also iMac its got slow as well.

I have 2011 iBook Air , but never upgraded ever since 10.72. which seems faster within the fanily

of 10.7. I tried to update since 10.7.3 but the Internet (wireless) connect got lost and

wouldn't work with Apple airport 6.0. I also tried to updated to 10.7.4. The connect problems

never resolved. So, until next OP, I decided to stick 10.7.2 for the 2011 Air.

My advice is that go stay in 10.7.2 . this is the best and fast .. and most reliable.

I have the iPad 2 [ (Wifi + 3G) ( iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) ] which connected to my 21" iMac [Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)] through Internet sharing seemlessly some time back.

3G is disabled & presently am not using it.

I have an ethernet cable from my ISP which directly connects to my iMac from where i do Internet sharing for my iPad.

I do not use wireless routers as there is only one machine i.e my iMac which needs access.

However of late, with latest software updates on the iMac & iPad, the connection seems to work only intermittently.

The connection breaks 5-10 minutes, despite both the devices being in the same room.

I have tried almost all suggestions on forums like resetting your network settings on iPad, changing channels on the iMac for Internet sharing, with or without password security, resetting the firewalls on & off on the iMac, but nothing seems to work & the only way is to reset all your settings all over again to find the same result of connections breaking every 5-10 minutes.

I did. I was trying around different versions of OSX. I have a PPPOE connection here, where I work and i share internet connection to my iPod Touch 3g and SE Xperia Arc S (Android). Connection is being shared from my late 2008 Macbook Pro.

What I've noticed, only versions of OSX that work flawlessly are prior to Lion (SL as installed and up to 10.6.8). Internet works fast for both devices, and what is most important, it works completely.

With every version of OSX Lion, I noticed following: I can share internet, but I can't access certain features:

For Android phone, list is somewhat shorter: most noticable is that Facebook app is not working...can't see post, access my own profile etc.

For iPod, it's a disaster. Can't update weather, except for few seconds after reestablishing a connection. Can't browse or search in App Store. Same Facebook problem exists for iPod. And worst, iMessage is not working...actually, my whole notification bar is empty, but is supposed to be full of events, messages etc. And this is making me sad.

Anybody with same problems?

I know 🙂 but I have to admit, I didn't quite know these problems existed before. For me, It started with 10.7.4, as far as I know. As I was reverting to all possible versions, these were my findings. I'm not quite sure than, which problems started with 10.7.4 only. But nontheless, those are strange issues for OSX Lion, does not matter which version is that.

Just to add to the list of frustrated users, I'm another with the same specification as unionpoletapes:

iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011

Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB

Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

Internet connection dropping every hour at the moment, but was slightly less bad in previous days (have had this problem for about three weeks now). Only a restart allows me to reconnect. Am using all Apple devices - Time Machine and Airport. My husbands iMac (early 2009), and my Macbook both working just fine with uninterrupted internet connections.

Have sent a report to Apple. Considering taking the iMAc into local Apple store as have tried most of the 'fixes' suggested here and nothing has worked so far.

But thanks to everyone who has contributed advice. At least it's good to know it's not just me!

Pumari,

if you're OK with not applying any security to your Wi-Fi signal (hey everyone in the neighborhood! use my internet!) then i think you'll have decent luck with the following settings:

Go to "System Preferences/Sharing"

check "Screen Sharing"

check "Scanner Sharing"

check "Web Sharing"

check "Internet Sharing"

uncheck "Internet Sharing" so as to allow for the selection of "Wi-Fi Options" and then click on "Wi-Fi Options"...apply these settings:

Network Name: doesn't matter, name of your choosing

Channel: doesn't matter, I've selected 9

Security: None

click OK

re-check "Internet Sharing" then "Start"

should be OK...

i know that it doesn't solve the root of the problem...but for the time being, this is the only option, I believe...

please let me know how it goes.
