I am wondering how ensure that when I delete emails from my IPhone, they are also deleted on my computer. I have gone into Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendars/ Verizon account/ Advanced/ and selected to "delete from server when removed from Inbox".

This is only possible with IMAP or exchange email accounts, not POP accounts. Deleting from server when removed from inbox only makes the message unavailable for retreival by other email clients such as your computer, it doesn't cause the emails to be deleted from your computer. With POP email you are not the email as it exists on the server; your email is downloaded locally and changes to the server are not synced to your local email.

Both mailx are downloaded to the client.
Changes in any one will not be reflected in the other.

With POP email accounts, when you view your inbox on your phone you ave viewing email downloaded and stored locally on your phone. With IMAP accounts when you view you inbox on your phone you are actually viewing the email as it exists on your email provider's server. Thus, with POP accounts when you delete an email from your phone you are deleting the email from your phone, and because you have chosen to do so, also from your email provider's server. However, when you open your email on your computer, you are still only viewing the email that has been downloaded to your computer, not what is on your email provider's server. Therefore, even if an email was deleted from the server you won't see this change reflected on your computer. With IMAP accounts, since you are viewing the email on the server, when an email is deleted from the server you see this change reflected on both your phone and your computer. ProTip: Don't even waste your time with Apple tech support since they will blame your email provider.
In my video, I show undeniable proof that the delete requests are not sent to the server immediately.
How? I sniffed the TCP packets leaving my iPhone and looked for the delete commands. They simply do not leave the phone until you've hit refresh several times.
Apple, fix your wonky email app and stop blaming email providers. It is not a server problem!
