icons, dock, and menu do not display on desktop...

icons, dock, and menu do not display on desktop...

i just installed 10.4 on top of 10.1.5. then i installed ipod software and was informed new version of itunes was available for download so i downloaded. after restart, desktop icons, menubar and dock disappeared and will not display. no matter how many times i restart they won't show up, please help - this is very frustrating, now i wish i hadn't upgraded. thanks, fenderlyte.

The first step I would take would be to repair permissions. This should be done before and after any update to the system. If that does not cure the problem try downloading and installing the 10.4.5 Combo Update over your existing system.

Upgrade installs are not the best on top of 10.1 system. If Roger's good advice does not sort it, I would do an "archive & install" or "erase & install" depending on how well backed up you are.
