i have old Apple iPod 1GB -- locked in disc mode--how do i get back to menu--HELP!

Have you tried a simple hard reset of the device yet to bring it out of Disk Mode? To do this, first make sure the Hold Switch is toggled to the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

This may or may not work the first time around, so try it a few times if necessary.
