Neither the iPad or the iPhone support aptX. The codec is supported by the Mac OS X. It's also available in the following phones and tablets:

- Motorola RAZR

- Samsung Galaxy S III

- HTC One Series - One X, One V and One S

- Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

- Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

- Creative ZiiO Tablet

There are some dongles available with aptX from Creative and Sennheiser that you could use for the iPad or iPhone.

I have a Cambridge DAC Magic Plus and I have the BT 100 connected. I have a Sennheiser BTD 500 aptX dongle attached to my desktop Mac Pro. I'm able to get real aptX streaming going from my Mac for exactly 3min 6sec and then the sound cuts out until I stop itunes for a few seconds and re-start it. The same thing happens on any form of sound including Quicktime. The pairing is never stopped but the sound cuts out at the same increment of 3min 6sec. I've questioned Cambridge about this phenomenon and they know less than any support I've encountered. It might have something to do with the Mac, but I'm not convinced. I've already tried the Creative aptX dongle and the same thing happens, so I know it's not the dongle's fault.
