I have burned files before onto a DVD+R, and for some reason, any DVD+R i put in isnt showing up anywhere on my Mac, even in Disk Utility.
I also tried burning to it, and it keeps spitting the disc out, tried several discs. Any thoughts?

Thnaks for your reply...Most of the SMC's symptom's arent happening to my Mac. Everything runs great, just this issue.
It's up to you. I just know a number of people have had optical drives come back to life after a SMC reset and that was the only issue they were seeing.
SMC Reset. No change.
Any other discs working? CDs? DVDs?
I just got this message now through finder:
The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.
It could be the laser that does DVD burning is too weak. They do give out after a while. Or it could have dust on it, if you want to try using a drive cleaning disc. Or it could be you need to try different brand of media, or slower burn speed. That wouldn't really explain why the DVDs were not being recognized at all.
The DVD's are being recognized, just the errors when trying to burn.
Sprayed air, didnt help.
