    On windows eh

    Close iTunes

    Go to Start

    Click computer or my computer

    Click C:\

    Click Users

    Click your account

    Click your music

    Click itunes folder

Drag the iTunes library.xml and iTunes library.lib files to desktop

Reopen  iTunes - it should be empty

Click File>add folder to library> Locate your music folder- choose and should be corrected - unless you have duplcated music in your folder as well

Converting to MP3 simply nmakes a new copy of the file in MP3 format at a lower quality.

All the original files remian in the library.

First restore a backup of your library (/Music/iTunes/ folder) prior to when you made the MP3 files.

Nooooooooooo. many hours spent creating plylists. i was really hoping that i could somehow restore my old playlists?  is it because in the process of recreating the songs to MP3 i somehow erased my playlists? thanks again
