why won't my menu button work on my remote

I'm struggling to get my movies/music etc up via my remote when pressing the menu button? even when its paired?

Any ideas?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

The Front Row application that used to do this is now gone in Lion.

Pressing the play button should start iTunes and allow you to skip etc.

Yeah, I miss it also. Apple tv has most of the functions formerly in Frontrow though.
