iTunes wont connect to the update server?

After much trial in error in an attempt to sync my iPod Touch, iTunes has told me that it cannot recognize the content on my iPod and that I would need to restore it to its original factory settings.

I have tried multiple times to restore my iPod, but everytime I try to contact to the update server, I get an error that says "The iPod software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network setitngs are correct and your network connect is active, or try again later."

My internet is connected fine(4 bars) and everything else on that computer require an internet connection works smoothly as well. How do I connect iTunes to the internet to restore my iPod?

I'm using a 2nd generation iPod Touch(8GB), I believe I have iTunes updated to the latest version, and I'm running this on a Windows 7.

Thanks!

iPod touch (2nd generation), Windows 7

This is going to be related to your antivirus.

So shut off your Antivirus, anything that is able to be turned off- Example (Active protection,Mail, spam, dlls, ect)

Reopen iTunes - try again

If doesnt work then try this

click Start >MsConfig- Click selective Startup, Click the startup tab, click disable all, Recheck everything related to apple, iTunes, Quicktime, Bongjour, ect, ect.

click the services tab, click hide all microsoft services, then again - recheck anything related to Apple, iTunes Quicktime, Apple Mobile Device, iPod service.

click ok- click reboot, try again
