Hi..
If you are running v10.7.3 as your profile suggests, you need to update all your system software, not just Safari.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update ...
Carolyn,
I am running 10.7.4 (it automatically installed today through software update).... that's what I meant by "the latest OS X update", but I should have been more specific to avoid confusion.
The update installed Safari 5.1.6, not 5.1.7.
See this AppleSupport Article re Update 10.7.4:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5167
It states:
"The OS X Lion v10.7.4 Update includes Safari 5.1.6, which contains stability improvements."
I just manually downloaded Safari 5.1.7, but now seeing the Knowledge Base document about the `10.7.4 update, I am wondering if I should have????

It's not a bad idea to have updated to 5.1.7 There's a few additional security vulnerabilities closed in 5.1.7:
