Jun 13, 2013 3:52 PM in response to Kiristineby DotMike,Just be aware that while the iCloud pricing seems reasonable, it represents substantial price-gouging by Apple. (Sorry guys, I love Apple and am only trying to get you to correct your course before hitting the rocks you are squarely headed for—the fiction that "it's worth whatever people are willing to pay for it" was the root of the last two financial collapses.)
Cost of a 1TB Portable USB Hard Drive: about $1 per TB/month (based on a 7 year lifespan for tape.)
Amazon Glacier Pricing: $.01 per TB/month
Google Cloud Pricing: $.085 per TB/month (the price goes down significantly as you scale up.)
iCloud Pricing: $160 per TB/month (price goes slightly as you scale up, but it maxes out at 55GB.)
This is a very counter-productive long-term strategy for Apple, especially as, after years of struggle, they have finally reached the point where it is not only affluent people who buy their products.
