If your /Home/Download/ folder is missing then either you deleted it or moved it. Try using Spotlight to search for "download" and see if you can find it. If you do just move it back to the Home folder. When you do then the Dock alias should start working again.

In the event the folder is truly gone then navigate to your Home folder. Press COMMAND-SHIFT-N to create a new folder. Rename the folder to "Downloads" without the quotes. Remove the existing Dock alias for the Downloads folder then select the new Downloads folder and drag it to the right side of the Dock.

My case is little different than what you said above. When I click the Download Fold that is in the dock, it just pops up a blank window. Then even I click the Finder in dock, it pops up blank window as well. However I still can open Finder with "Conmand + N". I clicked Download Folder the one in the home folder, it does not respond.

Just let you know I am using Lion os x, the folders in the home folder can not be modified and deleted.

I tried using spotlight to open it, but it still doesn't work.

So, if I understand you do have a Downloads folder in your Home folder. If you double-click on that folder it does not open. Is this correct? Give this a try: Go to your /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Locate the com.apple.finder.plist file and put it in the Trash. Press COMMAND-OPTION-ESC to open the task manager window. Select the Finder and click on the Relaunch button. Now try opening the Downloads folder.

I brought my computor to apple genius bar today. They tried so many ways: permission repairing, system and plate reinstallation, but they still couldn't fix the problem. I guess I just have to wait untill Mountain Lion comes out. hopefully, system upgrade can fix that problem.

Again I still appreciate you concerning.
