Q: My volume won't work on iPhone 4s?

Today I tried listening to music on my iPhone 4S, only to find that my volume adjuster had disappeared. And just to clarify, when I say that it disappeared, I mean that when I press the volume buttons on my phone, I see the speaker icon but the gauge bar is gone. I tried to test if this issue was only happening in one place, by checking out if I could adjust my volume through my YouTube app. Unforuntately, the volume slider has disappeared from the app as well.

I tested my alarms, etc. and the problem is not my speakers -- my phone is still fully functional in this regard.

I can't figure out what I did to cause this change, but I would love any advice you have on how to fix my phone. If it makes any difference, I have already tried restarting it several times.

And remember, the speakers work fine. I got them to play for a couple

Seconds. It's just the volume won't show up. And it doesn't say "headphones"

I had the same problem, this has happend to my phone twice now but what really helped me was resetting my phone, people say if you reset your phone you lose all you things, photos, music, games excetra but you don't first you MUST make sure that the switch on the side of your iPhone/iPad is NOT orange then you hold down your home button an your off switch TOGETHER/AT THE SAME TIME, hold them BOTH down, after the apple logo will appear on our screen as usual as it would if you was turning it on, that's totally normal it should only take about half a minute to turn your phone on maybe even a minute, once you reset your phone any kind of bug/virus you have should be gone if this doesn't work the n I'm sorry your phone speakers are broken Probaly

Some other things you could try to get your phone working-

The toothbrush trick which is gently brushing the speaker, charger hole & the headphone hole to get rid of all of the dust

-or blowing Into all of the speakers and see if they work

-or get a pin & clear every hole

NONE OF THEM WORKED FOR ME, ONLY RESETTING YOUR PHONE WORKS FOR ME :) but the ones listed has worked for others so I reccomended them BUT resetting my phone worked for me,

    Hope this helped you :)

I found on another forum where someone said to go to the Find My iPhone App & ping your phone! IT WORKED!!! I have sound again!! Sooo excited it worked!!

Blow into the headphone jack then into the charger port. It worked for me but you have to blow really hard!

More than likely, the iPhone has some sort of water damage. the one thing that has worked in the past is if you activate Siri then exit you will have sound back. At least for a short time.

Speaking of "time" you just responded to a question that was asked more than six months ago.

Resetting was my last resort and it worked for me. My problem was my volume on the side worked but inner speaker didn't work and worse yet the controls on my earpods wouldn't pause or effect volume. I reset iphone and even though inner speaker doesn't work, I now can control it through earpods.
