Repair permissions with DIsk Utility.
I have the same problem after the 10.7.4. upgrade with Panasonic LX3 raw-files (RW2). Repairing permissions did not help in my case. Are there other things one could do?
I tried "repair disk permissions" and it didnt work, interestingly the raw files still import off my sd card into iphoto but if I try to take that file an manualy open it iphoto or any other app that had previously been able to read the file it no longer works.
What happens, do you get an Unsupported Image Format message or is the image garbage or what?
In my case, iphoto does not import the raw files. I get an "unreadable file" "Unrecognized format" message. Editing with raw photo editors like Silkypix does work as well as usual, though
How did you upgrade to 10.7.4? Is your camera is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3, did it work before the upgrade?
If yes I would recommend you try the combo updaterOS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client) and see if thhat gets the RAW images back.

Try the Combo updater OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client)
Thanks for your answer. I upgraded via the usual software update on my macbook. Have never used this combo. It would be another 700MB and would eat up again a big part of my monthly allowed bandwith (I am on mobile broadband), but you think chances are good that the raw compability will be restored then?
Yes, it's the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3, and it has worked all the time until the upgrade
I got the update from system update like usual, should I use time machine to go back to my previous install before trying the alternate installer, luckily 10.8 should be out soon and might fix it either through update our doing a clean install...
There is no way I can guarantee that your problem will be cured by installing the combo update. In the past when things have gone awry after an OS update installing the combo updater for that release has sometimes solved the problems.
Given your bandwidth situation it's a tough call. If you could place one of the RAW files on the web somewhere, say dropbox. I'll download it here and see what happens.
The reason the combo updater sometimes fixes issues is that it is a complete install of the OS, the updates are just that the changes and at times things get left out.
Let me know what you decide
regards
You don;t need to go back to the TM backup if you want to try the combo updater, Just download it and run the installer, It will install over your system.
As I mentioned in the other post at times things get left out of the updates but the combo updater being a complete install restores the missing bits.
If this camera has been working in Lion since 10.7 and it just stopped I have high hopes that the combo updater would fix the problem but there is no way for me to say for sure. One good thing loading it will not adversely affect your system so the worst you'd be is in the same place you are now.
Hi Frank, thanks a lot again! Here is a link to one of my RAW-files http://dl.dropbox.com/u/847449/P1200474.RW2 As it does not seem to be a widespread problem, it might indeed be related to some local issues on my macbook..
Downloaded and have problems with it here/ If you look at the RW2 file in Finder what does it show you as file type? I have it jsut as a generic document and preview can;t open it.
Trying the combo update now will let you knwo if it changes anything
Loading the Combo update didn't fix the problem, 10.7.4 still was unable to open the file. Just to be sure I booted back into 10.7.3 and the RW2 file was able to be decoded by Preview.
So it appears as if something was broken in the upgrade to 10.7.4. I'd advise you to report this to Apple.
good luck, sorry I wasn't able to do more

Just to add, I have the same Camera, updated with Combo update, no issues.Hope this may help somehow. I do notice that Apple usually bring out an update for RAW compatability pretty quickly after each OS update if that helps at all.
