May 11, 2012 5:22 AM in response to MylesThoby Russ H,Check Software Updates to verify that Final Cut and Compressor are most current versions.
Use this free tool to trash preferences.

May 11, 2012 5:46 AM in response to Russ Hby MylesTho,Thanks very much. I downloaded the tool, trashed and deleted preferences, rebooted, but the problem persists.
Any idea what to try next?

May 11, 2012 6:00 AM in response to MylesThoby Russ H,I would create a test project with a short clip, export that as a QuickTime file and bring it into Compressor. Use the DVD preset from the batch template for the encode/burn test. In the Job Action tab, change output device to HD (no sense wasting a disk) and see whether it will complete the job.

May 11, 2012 6:06 AM in response to Russ Hby MylesTho,Thanks again Russ.
The problem seems to be with Compressor (v4).
It never worked properly (always stopped at 95%). I deleted it and reinstalled from the App Store.
Now it won't run.
Each time I launch, the interface appears briefly (about 5 seconds) but then it crashes and sends a report to Apple. I must have sent about 45 reports by now, no idea what to do.
Somehow have to figure out how to burn a DVD for a client by Monday...
Any suggestions?

May 11, 2012 6:43 AM in response to Russ Hby MylesTho,Hi again,
I pepaired permissions, removed Compressor with Digital Rebellion's FCS Remover, reinstalled but still Compressor crashes about 10 second after launch, and FCPX still gives the following error when I click Share Y DVD > Burn: com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1
I'm at my wit's end.
Any other ideas?

May 11, 2012 7:55 AM in response to MylesThoby Luis Sequeira1,You may try deleting Compressor's preferences:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Compressor.plist~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Compressor.plist.lockfile

May 11, 2012 9:39 AM in response to MylesThoby Russ H,I would uninstall again (with The FCS Remover) but not reinstall. Try the job on FCPX on its own to see what results.
BTW, what are your systemms specs?
Luis, just to let you know he's already done the prefs thing a couple of different ways.

May 11, 2012 12:46 PM in response to Russ Hby MylesTho,I removed Compressor and QMaster with the FCS Remover and then tried on FCPX but got the same error.
My specs are:
Mac Pro (Early 2009) running OSX Lion 10.7.4
2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory: 16GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB

May 11, 2012 1:09 PM in response to MylesThoby Russ H,Well, so much for the spec question, but had to ask,
if Compressor as not on your system, and Share is still broken, and since I think you've also trashed FCPP preferences, them next step would be to uninstall FCP, re-install and repair permissions. See if it will export/share to…DVD and/or any other preset. (Question: does FCP behave properly other than this one shre option?)

May 11, 2012 2:12 PM in response to MylesThoby Russ H,Also: What OS were you running when you first installed FCPX and Compressor? Assume you were running 10.6 when you downloaded 10.7; so was that upgrade a clean install and were the apps installed after that upgrade? Or were the apps previously running on 10.6?

May 11, 2012 2:18 PM in response to Russ Hby MylesTho,FCP behaves fine apart from this issue. If I reinstall, I wonder what happens to all my projects..?
The upgrade from 10.6 to 10.7 was a clean install.
I installed Lion, then FCPX, then Compressor one month later.

In theory, nothing. I woiuldn't hesitate myself, but I have backups of Events, Projects and all my Final Cut Studio files. (Of course you should too.) If you have back-ups, and something bizzare happens, you may have to do some media reconnecting…hopefully that won't be an issue. (My expereinece with this in new apps is limited to reinstalling Compressor and transitioning from the trial X to the paid version. But in both cases had no issues with projects that had been created by the earlier downloads).
Let's hope this solves it…that is if you decide to reinstall.
Best of luck.
