My mac is asking me for a 6 digits System Lock pin code to peform a clean install (booting from a USB drive) . My security pin code has 4 digits, not 6 but it seems that the screen doesn't allow me to type in only 4.
Had you seen this before? any workaround or fixes ?

Sounds like you have a firmware password enabled, & that's what is being asked to enter.

I indeed protected my mac's firmware and was asked the code, I chose a 4 digits code but now it asks me for a 6 digits pin code and if type only 4 digits , the 'submit' arrow or button doesn't show up. So, in order to submit the code, it must be 6 digits but I didn't choose 6 digits but only 4.
Well, you're gonna have to go to an Apple store to fix this. Backup before you go...they "may" erase your drive.
Also, If I boot up the mac using my Snow Leopard installation disk, it works and by-passes this screen which doesn't look good (safe?) to me as I can by pass the code and peform a Mac OSX clean installation.
By the way, theare are 2 codes involved here , the firmware password (any character) and the system lock pin code (only numeric digits) .
I have no problem with my firmware password as my mac accepts it with no problem. The problem is that system lock 6 digits pin-code when I chose only a 4 digits one.
I know this is several months late, but all you need to do is change the RAM configuration and then restart the computer to remove the Firmware password. Just take 1 stick of RAM out, restart, and then put the RAM back in; problem solved.
I think I figured out a way around it. Anyone still need an answer?

You keep posting this in all threads like this. Why are you doing it?
If you have an answer that is not a link to some type of SPAM, BOT, INFECTED website why not just post it.

I see where you are coming from and I appreciate that you are trying to keep these forums clean.
