how to stop spam from third-parties via iTunes?

Today I just received a spam via iTunes. It seems to have legitimately come from Apple, as the "Received:" line added by my ISP's mail server line is:

Received: from badger1301.apple.com ([17.254.6.174]) by m1pismtp01-010.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net with ESMTP; 11 May 2012

... and Apple does own that IP address. The content of the spam was:

My iTunes account contact preferences don't permit Apple to send me any junk. How is it that Apple is allowing unknown third-parties to spam me? (And, more importantly, how do I get it to stop?)

In the headers of the message, it gives the E-mail address of the person who asked the request to be sent to you. For example, mine contained this header:

Reply-To: Berthackxd6070@yahoo.com

If you can't see headers of the mail message, you can just try replying to it, and the reply will be directed to the person who sent the request. (You can cancel the reply without sending it; the important thing is to see what address is placed in the "To:" address when the reply message is constructed for you.)

It would be interesting to know whether you got the same E-mail address, or whether this is some organized campaign to "game" iTunes with a botnet and a large number of hacked accounts.

In any event, it would be a good idea for Apple to allow end-users to opt out of this annoyance. I don't really care to get any "app recommendations" even from people I actually know.

Ditto.

I too got one of these spams today on my account beckoning me to try out Yangutu.

The mail started off with "Barbara has recommended that you check out Yangutu - Meet new people:.." I don't know any Barbara's, at least none that I've spoken to in MANY years.

The headers in mine look are below (I've ***'ed out my hotmail username). I definitely don't know anyone at Kiaraipby73080@yahoo.com. If the developer was responsible for this, hope Apple takes action.
