So you are using the correct ID on both devices then I assume.

When the iPad is connected to the PC and with iTunes running, click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading. Then click on the Summary Pane in iTunes on the right. You don't have it set to Manage manually do you?

Click on the Apps tab as well. Do you have the sync apps heading checked?

Do this for starters. Turn off auto sync in iTunes just to be safe. Do not connect the iPad.

Launch iTunes on your PC and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically. Click OK and quit iTunes.

Now connect the iPad, launch iTunes, click on the Summary Pane and uncheck the manually manage and check sync only selected songs and videos. Now try to transfer the apps and see if it will work.

You can always download your apps again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID, but let's hold off on that right now.

Ok I did everything up until Unchecking the manually manage and as I try do that I get this message

'Are you sure you do not want to manually manage music and videos on your iPad? All existing content on the iPad “Darren's iPad” will be replaced with content from your iTunes library.'

I dont wanna do this and then it wipes everything out. What should I do?

As far as I know, iTunes will still not change anything until you click on Apply in the lower right corner. I fiddle with my settings all the time - just so I can get a sense if what to expect should I make any changes - and I have never seen anything happen to my configuration unless I click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. Not only that - you have turned off auto sync so as far as I know you still have to click on sync or apply in order for the iPad to sync with iTunes.

That doesn't mean it will not happen, I've never seen it happen - is all that I'm saying. I'm sorry but I'm not sure what will happen, but the only reason that I can of why the apps will not transfer is because of the manual manage setting. I could be wrong about that as well.

Look at this discussion - which I have referred quite a few users to read. I know this process has worked for a number of people that have read it and used the instructions in it. Maybe we are missing something - what that would be - I'm not quite sure, but take a look.

OK i unchecked and checked the other one. Then I went to the apps icon at the top and the page shows up with the apps but again it wont let me select anything. The apps are almost seethrough if that makes any sense to you. I cant page to the next page of the apps either. Would it make any difference that my pc that crashed was a Hp and now I am using a Mac?

No. It should make no difference at all that you have switched to Mac or Windows. It should work with either OS. I understand exactly what you are talking about with regard to the app icons. They are unselectable.

The computer is authorized .... You are sure of that? And you are using the correct Apple ID on the computer and the iPad as well?

You are clicking on the apps tab in the iTunes window on the right side of iTunes - at the top of the window?

I'm sorry but I am stumped and it may be something very simple, but I just can't think of what it would be at this point.

Can you create a backup at least? If you can, that will make your life so much easier when you download the apps again.

One last try ... The Sync Apps heading is checked - correct? And you do not have restrictions enabled either - correct? Settings>General>Restrictions>Off.
