How to sign up for a paid books account if you are not a US citizen:

See this FAQ.

You will need an EIN from the IRS/US Govt., which you can obtain over the phone. If you attempt to publish as a company with Apple, you will be expected to show proof. Scan the relevant documents and send to Apple per their instructions.

Know that at this time, there are 32 stores are available for publishing/distribution, basically US, Canada, Australia, and most of Europe.

What istheTaxIDnumber?I would haveto paytaxesin the U.S.?DoI have to payafeeto obtainthisID number?

A Tax ID number (EIN) is necessary to avoid double-taxation when you publish a "paid" eBook on the iTunes Store.

Without an US Tax ID, the math would be the following:

if your book sells for 10,00$, Apple will take 3,00$ and pay to you 7,00$ BUT, it will retain approx. 30% (2.10$) and pay the income tax in U.S.A. on your behalf, acting as a withholding agent.

Then, on what is left (4.90$), you will have to pay local income tax in your Country.

With a US Tax ID number, this matter is regulated on the base of a bi-lateral taxation treaty in force between U.S. and your Country, in order to avoid the double-taxation.

In this case, Apple will pay to you 7,00$ (or possibly deduct approx. 5%, depending on the clauses of the specific treaty and the product cathegory). Therefore you pay only the local income tax in your Country.

The costs involved for obtaining tha Tax ID number are relatively modest. Mainly, are local costs for the authentication of the required documents.

I don't think there is a problem. You can publish a book in any language in any of the stores, as long as you correctly indicate the language in the metadata. (My book is written in English and available in all 32 stores.) I would use different ISBNs for the English and French version.

Put it on sale in as many countries as you wish from the available choices.

Anything is possible during the review process 🙂 - I doubt your example carries risk, tho

And I would difuser the same book in both languages ...

Will you offer a series? Have you looked at the store for examples that may apply to what you have in mind for both long and short term?

Again, I don't see an issue for your plan so far - good luck and let us know how it works out if you have time later, thanks.
