MacBook Pro w/Lion does not read SD cards or see camera via USB

My MacBook Pro (early 2011) used to read my SD cards and recognize my Nikon D50 DSLR with a USB connection. After upgrading to Lion recently, the card reader slot no longer mounts my 2GB SC card, and the Mac does not see the camera with a USB connection (the camera does recognize that it is connected to a PC). Is there a workaround to import my images into the MacBook Pro? What happened?
