Can't download apps unknown error

When I try to download a new app I get an 'unknown error' message. Can anyone help please?

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1

Sign out of account, restart and sign in again



1. Settings>Store>Apple ID.



2. Tap on your ID and sign out.



3. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off.



4. To power on hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.



Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to download again.
