New Ipad

Today my New Ipad simply turned off ...and remains with its screen totally black..I tried to push both buttons but nothing happens..the screen is still black.

What should I do ?

How long ago did you make the purchase? I suggest if you're not willing to discharge and see if the dust settles, here's what you can do.


If its within 30 days (Apple physical store purchase), go to the store to get assistance with the issue. They should be quite receptive and are willing to offer 1-for-1 exchanges for your bricked unit.


For Apple online store: 14 days. You have the options of:

  • contact Apple after sales team through phone and calling for an exchange. Advantage: They'll arrange a courier like DHL, FedEx or UPS to pick up your iPad and it may take probably 3-10 working days before they ship you a new unit. A shipping order with an invoice stating an iPad costing $0.00 will then appear on your email once the iPad ships.
  • Through the apple store recent purchases menu, locate your iPad's purchase and hit the blue return button. Then print the piece of shipping address and ship it back to Apple, order a new one.

  • I'd recommend the first option if you got the iPad online though.


    Out of replacement period? Use the warranty. Visit the Genius bar at any Apple Store OR, call the Apple Care hotline to see what they can do about the iPad.

    Black Screen - I did hold both buttons (Sleep and Home) for 30 and more seconds and the screen is still black. Nothing changed or appeared. The last time I saw my battery percentage it showed me 78% before it turned off.

    Hopefully, Apple can exchange my Ipad I purchaded in the USA here in Brazil.
