When I open Safari (v. 5.1.7) the usual menu bar across the top of the screen is not displayed, the three radio buttons at the top left of the Safari window are not shown and the window itself only takes up less than a quarter of the screen. I experienced the same behaviour with the previous version. Can anyone suggest how this may be rectified or is this the "new normal"?

Double click at the very top of the screen. That should reveal the menu bar.
Option + Command + F to enter or exit Full Screen Mode.
I am running 10.7.4.
I guess my point was that the non-diisplay of the menu bar, the small window and the absence of the buttons are default behaviours and I was questioning this.
No answers here so I asked my nerd friends about this problem. Try shift+command+D (show desktop) It worked!! 🙂
