No launching iTunes 10.6.1!!

I have never had any trouble with the iTunes version I had prior to "updating" to iTunes 10.6.1. Today, I tried updating to 10.6.1. After installing and trying to launch the program I get a pop up window indicating iTunes has stopped working (it hasn't even yet launched!) and that Windows will notify me when a solution is available. What's up with that?!
