How do you delete or add text boxes to titles in Final Cut Pro X?
For example the title KEYNOTE can you add or delete the boxes that the text are in?
You can open a copy in Motion and modify it as you like.

What if I don't have motion? Can this not be done without it?

If you don't have Motion you're stuck with the template.... some designs allow more customisation than others.
To open in Motion, control click on the title / effect / transition and you will see the option.
