Can Firefox work on iPad?

Can anyone tell me if I can download Firefox on my iPad thereby giving me a choice to use Safari or firefox? Certain programmes I use cannot work on Safari, but I don't want to risk damaging my iPad. Also while on the subject - can Firefox be downloaded on iPhone same concerns? Thanks

As King_Penguin has mentioned, simply changing your User-Agent may be sufficient.

If it isn't, you'll want to use a 24/7 remote desktop solution with a Firefox on the remote end. I've been using that of AlwaysOnPC ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/office-flash-java-w-chrome/id380204369?mt=8 ). You may want to check out http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/how-you-will-want-watch-flash-only-videos-and- use-dynamic-flash-content for a review; it has a video on accessing and using interactive Flash content using AlwaysOnPC.

You can only download apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app directly on the iPad - PC and Mac software aren't compatible with the iPad. There are a number of third-party browser apps in the store, some of which have settings within them that will identify them as other browsers e.g. Atomic Web and iCab Mobile.

You can try using iCab Moble and identify the device as FireFox on the iPad.

I use iCab Mobile on my iPad identified as FireFox 4.0 for Mac. It jsut might allow the functionality that you need or want.

No you cannot download the actual FireFox browser for the iPad - it does not exist at this time for the iPad. There are many alternative browsers to Safari available in the app store and most if not all of them offer way more features that Safari offers.
