You could try turning it off and possibly putting it in your refrigerator or freezer (note: this has been untested).

Mine also gets red hot while using WAZE app and it being plugged into save battery for when im out and about.

I dont know any other phone that gets red hot and also the display dims to a point its like its half way up on the brightness scale. Seriously thinkin of dumping the iPhone 4s

I was being serious. Don't let the iPhone get too cold, just set it in the freezer or refrigerator. Or, just turn it off and do nothing.

Same problem for me, it's useless for me this way!
