None of my iDevices can read my iTunes library after an hour of availibility. When I first start iTunes I can read the library, but after about 30 minutes my iPad's and iPhones can no longer access the library. I see it in the shared list, but no access.

Well I submitted a bug report to Apple a few weeks ago and last night got the following email from them.

I suggest everyone who has the problem submit a bug report - squeeky wheel etc.

I'm using your script to keep home sharing alive. It seems that it requires 2 starts to get it running again.

No problems at all, since I pulled that wire! If I wanted to be scientific about it I should really go back to Ethernet and see if the problem recurs. But I can't be bothered, and why risk it hen things are going well?

I've been scientific about it and it definitely does the trick! I've been running for the last three days without it going above 3 connections. My script has been running the whole time.

You only need to pull the wire on the appletv. The network speed difference isn't nearly as drastic as I thought it would be. The ethernet port on the appletv is only 100mb/s while the wireless is 65mb/s (assuming good signal). Its too bad they don't utilize the full performance of 802.11n or it would actually be an improvement to use wifi.

There is still a bug. Its not really the wire's fault. 🙂

It does seem to resolve the problem though. Mine is rock-solid running off wifi.

Just another tick for the wireless route. My itunes/atv/home sharing stopped working approx 4 weeks ago.

after much reading here my Netstat was showing up the same 150+ connections to each of my wired atv's

moving to wireless has fixed this issue.

As an aside netstat is showing 400+ https connections to my NAS box where iTunes media files are kept. This does not seem to be having any adverse effect though, restarting itunes does nothign to solve that lot...

Still working fine on both my AppleTV's, so yes the fix is working for me.

still going strong. though, over wifi, I've had a few dumps mid-video. Nothing major but it does occur occasionally.

I haven't either. And still have the problem.

Thought it would be useful to mention that you shouldn't expect mountain lion to fix it either. I have the developer account and it does nothing for this issue.
