to clear transcripts you select clear transcpripts under Edit.

My problem is this when I select to sent another message again to same person by double clicking are starting a new message all of the previous messages return.

Occurs with all my apple products.

How do you Permanently delete transcripts?

    Hi,

In everyday Messages beta use you cannot.

What you have to do is have the Finder open

Use the Go Menu and Hold down the ALT key to see the Library option and select that.

Then Open the Messages sub folder.

Delete or edit (you can open it in Text Edit) the file called chat.db

    Thanks Ralph

trashing the chat.db apparently worked. I keep forgetting that apple hid the library on us.... will make a note next time,

Hey Ralph, for whatever reason, "messages" as a folder is not an option inside my library, so I can't find the chat.db to delete. Do you know how to locate it for a Mac OS X Version 10.7.4 (Macbook Air)?

    Hi,

Just to be clear if there is one Mac User account on your Mac then there are in fact three folders titled Library.

Starting at opening the Hard Drive there is one there (Along with System, Applications, Users and possibly other folders such as Developer and things you may have placed at this level.

The Next is in the folder in the above list called System.

Strangely to Folder called Library here is the only folder in the System Folder.

    The last is "your own"

Starting at the top Level is is Hard Drive/Users/(your Account/Little House iCon)/Library.

However in Lion (And presumably it will be in Mountain Lion) the Library is Hidden.

To Access it you need the Finder to be the "Front" app and showing in the Menu bar.

    Use th Go Menu

Whilst this Drop Down is Open hold the ALT key down.

This makes the Library appear in the List.

You can then select it and from there select the further folders it contains.

You need the one called Messages

    Library

Is this where you were looking ?
