i accidentally ejected ipod and now ipod shows connected, but computer will not recognise it. also now cannot operate ipod. help

I ACCIDENTALY EJECTED MY IPOD WHILE IT WAS CONNECTED. IPOD NOW SHOWS IT IS STILL CONNECTED ,AND I CANNOT OPERATE IT. ALSO, COMPUTER DOES NOT RECOGINIZE THE IPOD. HELP

iPod nano (4th generation), Windows XP

Try to reset it. To do this, first make sure the Hold Switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
