May 13, 2012 3:57 PM in response to EKHN1995by Demo,You have to have location services turned on in order to locate the device? Is that turned on in the settings on the iPad-/iPod or whatever device you are trying to locate?

May 16, 2012 6:31 PM in response to EKHN1995by Encrypted11,You can't track an iPod. iTouches don't have GPS, just crowd sourcing Wi-Fi for determining approximate location (Even in Location Services). Apparently if you were to try locating any other iDevice that do not have a built in GPS (Like the iPad Wi-Fi without 3G/iPod Touch), Find My iPhone or iCloud simply tells you you can't locate the device. I don't know why, ask Apple but its intentional.
However, location services based on crowd sourcing Wi-Fi will work for other apps requiring your location.
If you're curious on proving this point, try locating an iPad (Wi-Fi) on Find My iPhone and you'll never find it even if you have the Find my iPhone app.The response you'll get is "No location available" on the app, "Offline" on iCloud. I hope other people are aware of this.Anyway, chances are that the iPod is also unable to automatically connect to the internet without human aid in a foreign location.
Sorry for your loss.
