was plugged into computer. nothing unusual, then went into the recovery mode with usb and itunes on screen.
how to restore to most recent saved backup in itunes?

Connect to iTune, right-click on device and restore from backup

oh no, i dont get all of those options when i right click.
choices i get are open or eject.
there is a message says itunes detected ipad in recovery. restore before it can be used.

well that worked,kind of a leap of faith to restore from backup.
