My sound is not working on my 4s iPhone. I have checked settings and still doesn't work.

My sound stopped working on my iPhone 4s. I checked settings, sounds, ringers etc and everything show it as being on. The only thing that works is the vibrate. So my phone doesn't ring. Only vibrates. My alarm clock doesnt even acknowledge sound at all ?

Sounds like your iphone "thinks" that you have your earphones/earbus inserted. That's why you aren't hearing any sounds. Try pushing and pulling the jack in and out numerous times. This has happened on my 4s several times. If that does not do it, try blowing into the hole to try to dislodge any debris that might be in the hole, itself.

Good luck.

I googled "why does my sound stop working sometimes" and was immediately directed to this site - had no clue it existed - my sound does this quite often - no music, no alarm, no ringtones - yet all my settings are completely fine.

I read your comment slbgeo60, try the jack numerous times and BOOM - problem fixed.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS SIMPLE FIX. I'm sure there's more behind it but i just don't have time to go into an Apple store only to hear "you need a new phone" so ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR THIS SIMPLE FIX!!!!
