Sync session failed to start

Lately I have been having problems syncing my iPhone with iTunes. The most recent error is "Sync Session Failed to Start". However, even before when I could sync, it wasn't fully syncing. For example, as I listen to music on my iPhone, I will give it a star rating, but that data won't transfer to iTunes. Additionally, the "plays" and "Skips" stats are not transferring either.

Can anyone help?

I'm sick to death of this.

I constantly have problems syncing since iOS 6.0 and iTunes 10.7 rolled out.

I don't know which one is to blame, but I have constant issues. I have to restart iTunes all the time, or stop/start the Apple Mobile Device service, or even reboot my computer and phone.

Last week I switched to a new computer and started out with a 100% clean install of Win7 x64 and brand new iTunes install and the problems are still present like they were on my old computer.

This is clearly a problem since iOS 6.0 and iTunes 10.7 and it is really making me angry because synching is such a hassle now.

Apple needs to fix this crap now!

What I have seen is a suggestion about squirting a LITTLE BIT of DW40 around the home button. That will likely void the warranty. Here's a "software" fix I would try first:

"

  • Launch any app that came pre-installed on your device. I tried it with Notes but you can also launch Calendar, Reminders, or anything else.
  • Press and hold your device’s power button for about 4 seconds, until the “Slide to power off” prompt appears.

3. Once this happens, release the power button, and then press and hold the home button instead. This will take around 6-7 seconds, but at the end the prompt will disappear, and the app will force close.

That’s it. These actions should recalibrate your home button, and if you were having problems before, you should feel a significant improvement. My iPad’s home button wasn’t driving me nuts, but it wasn’t at its best either. Doing this definitely seems to have made it more quick to respond.

The article also describes using the "assistive touch" to give you a home button the screen.

Alcohol is less harmful than dw40!!

Here's another - a shot of compressed air!! Sounds like the safest.
