Do movies get stored on the Apple TV?

We have an Apple TV (2nd generation) and are wondering, if we rent a movie and don't watch it for 28 days say (<30 days) does it have to download again or is it stored on the Apple TV device. If so, can we store pore than one, up to 8GB worth of storage space?

If you rent a movie on Apple TV and do not watch it, it will disappear when the Apple TV is either turned off or used for something else. When it comes to re-download the movie again in order for you to watch it, you will not have to pay for it. No, unfortunately you cannot store 2 movies on your Apple TV at once.
