The most rugged and waterproof case for iPad

My sister just indulged herself in an iPad 3 for her boat and she wants to know how to keep out the salt and water as well as trying to make it a little more rugged if dropped. Is there any MIL grade or super rugged case for iPad? Preferably waterproof too?

Steve ~ Consider Griffin's Survivor case — here's a comment about it on Amazon:

"Tested and the results match what the manufacturer and others state. This case is rock solid. Mounted on a sailboat for 500nm, rain, sun, T-Storms, drops, kicks and it still looks great. The ports seal up nice and tight. It was great to be able to navigate using this. Just had to wipe the screen (protector that is) to get the rain off and keep going."

We sell a rugged waterproof iPad case that is solid as a rock, has a quick snap mounting bracket that is Ram mount compatible, with shoulder & palm strap options. It even has waterproof charging cable. Here is a link to the you tube video about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxQkHqqjOSU

The video is a little old and the latest cases have lenses for the front and rear camera now and the price has come down since they first launched. Take a look here http://www.digitalmarine.com.au/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=&pro duct_id=38&category_id=19&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

Available from Digital Marine....

If you are just looking for a waterproof casing, then go with the OverBoard or Aquapac. The reviews for these cases are pretty good. All of the touch functions and such are still functionable with the casing on top of it. They don't really add protection from dry land drops through (think of a ziplock bag). If you want a case that's only made for waterproof then go with one of these brands. They run around $35 or so.

You might be familiar with Lifeproof cases. It is more of a case which can be kept on the iPad at all times. It is waterproof and also protects from dry land drops. So if you want a case that's waterproof and want to keep it on all the time then go with this one. The price for a Lifeproof case is pretty much double at just below $80.

Before you decide on either case you should read more about it in this article:

LifeProof makes very good and high quality products. The cases may be a bit more expensive but are well worth it and work very well to keep the device water proof. Also if you are concerned about the device sinking LifeProof makes an addon that is basically a life jacket for the case. Here is the iPad case link http://www.lifeproof.com/shop/us_en/ipad/
