Why can't a digital copy of a movie sync on my iphone from itunes?

I am trying to put a couple of digital copies of movies in Itunes onto my Iphone. It doesn't work, and it acts like it doesn't even see the movies I have checked. I have tried under "advanced" to "create Ipod or Iphone copy" but that selection is not bold, so I cannot select it. What do I do?
