No anti-virus software will make a difference if your email was, in fact, spoofed. Spoofing happens entirely outside of your computer. You could smash your Mac into tiny pieces and someone could still spoof your email address. They're basically "pretending" to be you.

Most likely, then, your account got hacked and was being used to send spam. That would have nothing to do with your iPad. You'll need to contact your e-mail provider and ask that they reset your password and re-enable your account. Then you'll want to pick a new password that is different from the old password.

Some ISP's demand you to upgrade/install AV software before they reopen you'r account.

I think you have to call you'r ISP and explain you only access you'r email via iPad, and that there's no point in getting AV software for it. If they still demand it, you can always get the one I posted earlier, and delete it when the purpose cease to exist.
