Logged out of iCloud webmail for not being modern enough

I moved from MobileMe to iCLoud, and use webmail only - have old iPhone and company not upgrading laptop OS. Been logged out saying need to set up on an iOS5/Lion machine before I can used iCloud. What's up? Will I ever see my emails again?

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.6.4)
