Anyone having problems with emails from i cloud today?

I have an email address that ends in "me.com" as an iCloud Imap address in Mail and I'm not getting any of my mail this morning. I have tried to take the account 'offline' and then put it back 'online' ( which has worked in the past ) but not today.

I am logged into iCloud, and did the mobile me transfer of accounts months ago, so I am wondering:

1. Do I need to change any settings for my mac address ( change from "me.com" to another address?

2. Is there a general problem with iCloud mail today I am not aware of ?

My incoming mail server is : p04-imap.mail.me.com with SSL: ON

My outgong mail server is: p04-smtp.mail.me.com with SSL: ON

These settings were automatically configured when I set the mail account up originally.

Any help would be appreciated

I agree with blujackfan. But this is Apple's way, it seems - we'll tell you there's no problem - or that it's fixed - until such a time as the problem has been fixed.

Is it just me, or does Apple stuff work perfectly and easily (Apple-like) until they start upgrading things? Does QA not apply to updates?

Still not working 😠

I have the same problem since yesterday.

I can't access my emails neither on my macbookPro nor on my iphone nor on Safari.

even in mail settings I can't change the incoming mail server (dimmed: p02-imap.mail.me.com) and Apple servers keep rejecting my password although its working for other icloud areas.

What to do????!

Can't send Mobile Me email from Toronto

Apple, please wake up!

Choosing to not make your OS backwards compatible, costs many of your oldest and best customers much anguish. It not only risks losing those customers and their loyalty, it's also something that you clearly can't handle from a technical point of view.

So please stop acting like Microsoft, or we'll just have to start believing that Microsoft is the new Apple.

Thank you,

;(

You aren't talking to Apple here, this is a user-to-user forum. You say 'Choosing to not make your OS backwards compatible' but as you haven't specified your operating system it's difficult to offer advice. iCloud email, though not the other parts of iCloud, is perfectly compatible at least as far back as Tiger, though you have to set it up manually. When was it last working?

Hi Roger,

I've read several of your posts on this subject. My wife and i teach design at Universities here in Toronto. I in particular use many different kinds of software - currently with Snow Leopard on a 2009 17" Macbook Pro 500GB SSD and 8 GB Ram.

My expectations of Apple when they chose to maintain me.com for email, was that it and mac.com would be available to consumers for the foreseeable future. And instead it's there but seems to be poorly supported.

I have not upgraded to Lion because, as you know, it does not support Rosetta – and I'm not keen to purchase thousands of dollars of new or upgraded software to satisfy Apple's obsession with maintaining a closed software platform.

The last time mobile me was sending and receiving emails was last night. And from other web comments I see that it's quite likely to come back again - however this is unacceptable as a way of computing for professionals.

My comments to Apple will also be forwarded through the proper channels. Who knows - some keen Apple employee may actually read this forum – I would if I worked for Apple.

I'm willing to to install Mountain Lion on an external hard drive, as I've had to do for CS4 and 5.5 - and will now do for CS6 – until it becomes compatible with the rest of my software.

$30 seems a lot to pay for working email - when yesterday it was working for no additional cost.

If you have any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.

Regards,

Bob

As it was working recently you must presumably have followed the procedure for manually entering the server settings in Mail. It might be worth checking that they match those listed here:

iCloud: Mail Server settings

Both @mac.com and @me.com versions should work: I'm running Snow Leopard and have had no trouble with it except of course for the recent 2-day outage, apart from a very few short sticky periods. There's no need for you to upgrade to Mountain Lion just for email. It's very possible that you've just hit a temorary glitch in the system, in which case there's no point in tampering with anything.
