Since iOS 5.1.1 update the battery drains fast and the phone heats up

I'm having the same issue. Phone started to degrade after update to 5.1.1 I have restarted, reset and restored from backup. I haven't tried to restore as new, as I'm not sure what the impact will be in my need to reset my corporate exchange e-mail, etc.

I see from many posts on other boards this is not isolated and is impacting many users. I'm using verizon as a the cell carrier.

My phone is warm and eating battery at a rate of 10% per half an hour in standby mode. No new apps or anything else of that nature.

Same here. Upgraded to 5.1.1 yesterday evening. Phone was quite warm this morning when taken off of the USB which had never been the case in the 6 months I have owned my 4S. Then the battery depleted very quickly all day. No apps running. Didnt use my phone for anything other than checking the time (sad, I know) all day and after 14 hours of mostly standby the phone hit 20% before powering down. Plugged it into USB and could not turn back on for 5 minutes. In that 5 minutes or so, there was nothing on the screen or any recognition on my computer that my phone was plugged into it.

This *****. Sure hope this is addressed quickly!

Yup. I should have stayed with ios 5.0.1 really. I have basically done everything you can do, turned off all things, restored network settings / all settings and in the end did a full-reset to see if any apps were bugged and draining battery. Nope, even after full-restore it was bad. But not as bad as some of you, over the night (8+ hours) i still had 100% but when going out and listening to music for 30-min and surfing some on train, it can drain 10%+ which is abnormal. I really wanna go back but since Apple is very restricted when it comes to this and I dont have any old backups I have no choice 😟.

Same here!!! Before upgrading to IOS 5.1.1 my iPhone 4 worked in a great way two days without recharging now battery lasts only 7 hours and even less depending how I use the phone. When I talk on the phone it warms and risk burn my ears! (the same happens when charging). I already reset, restore from back up and as a new but it didn't solve the problem I'm sure it's a problem caused by the new IOS 5.1.1!!!! It's a really big shame for Apple and a torment for us using their products! I'm very disapointed and frustrated even more because Apple doesn't allow us to downgrade to a previous IOS version to solve this! I'm wonder how long we'll have to wait for a new IOS upgrade to fix all of this battery issue and I hope it'll come out soon before ruining completely the battery because the increasing rechargings!

I originally had the same problem after Upgrading to IOS 5.1.1 from IOS 5.1 as an Upgrade on my Brand New IPhone 4S, but after doing a Reinstall (by clicking Restore in ITunes 10.6.1) without Restoring From Backup, the problem is now gone! I currently have 97% Battery Power Remaining with 20 Minutes of Usage, and 1 Hour and 30 Minutes of Standby Time used up. Just FYI!

Since iOS 5.1.1 update the battery drains fast and the phone heats up
