Q: apple tv frozen after update

I updated my apple tv (gen 2 I think, silver remote) at the weekend, it download and updated the software but now all I get is the apple logo.  I took it the genius bar yesterday but they had no appointments so couldnt help.

I've tried the MENU + DOWN option and released when light flashes fast but it still just displays the Apple logo.

any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple community.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:

    • Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    • Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    • Open iTunes.
    • Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

I have the same problem. I tried plugging apple tv into my Mac with a micro USB and it doesn't show up on my device list. Any other ideas?

Yes, This is happening to me right now.  I connect my Apple Tv and it only shows the Apple Logo.  I took it to the Genius bar and they repalced it after they realized it didn't work.

Now, I am home with the replacement which is doing the same thing.  However, this time, we made sure the replacement worked at the apple Store.  Oh, we did the apple restore process like 5 times.

The genius also told me there is a cable I should purchase for $ 70 bucks (3rd party).

I will have a new TV in a couple of weeks.  But i wish someone could figure this out.

Did you plug the TV unit back into the AC power as well? The micro USB cord alone will not power the device.

I ended up bringing it to an apple store and they replaced it. They were not able to connect it via micro USB

I have the same problem. I tried plugging apple tv into my Mac with a micro USB and it doesn't show up on my device list. It seems that I should take it to the store and get a replacement.
