I Phone speakers don't work unless plugged in or on earphone

My I phone speakers do not work unless plugged into a speaker or on earphone. Calls, tones, etc. all work.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.

If you've gone through ALL the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, there's really not much left to recommend. You'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

I've tried all the "troubleshooting" items that one can find on the internet. To no avail. Apple store is not very close to me. 😟 I've done everything except restore as a new device. Does that often work?

Anyone have experience as to what a trip to the Apple store to fix this usually would cost?

If you're in warranty there will be no charge. If you're out of your warranty period, out of warranty exchange is $149.
